Jazz with seventeen flutes and five flutists
With five fluteplayers from four countries - Australia, Austria, Germany
and Switzerland - "Four or more Flutes" is unique among all jazz groups
playing at the moment. From the piccolo, to the over two meter high
double bass flute, all members of the flute family are represented. This
formation
is at the moment extremely successful in Europe. They have played at
most of the major festivals in Germany, and their newest CD "Fluturistic" was voted as the audiophile CD of the month by the
specialist magazine "Stereo". They have also made radio broadcasts
with Radio Bavaria and the West German Radio.
The members of the group are:
The Australian Charles Davis , one of the most successful flutists
working on the European jazz scene, with his group "Captured Moments".
Norbert Dehmke from Bregenz, Austria, who has recorded several
CDs with his own and other groups.
The Swiss flutist Felix Hodel achieved fame in the 80's with
the group "Schildpatt", playing at the World Expo in Japan and
renown jazz festivals, i.e. the Montreux and Berlin Jazz Festivals.
Andieh' Merk, the German multiinstrumentalist, plays as well
as the flute - saxophone, piano, drums and a wide variety of percussion
instruments.
Stefan Mölkner, from Germany, is as much at home in the
classical music as in jazz and plays occasionally in the philharmonic
orchestra based in Constance, Germany.
